Taiwan Trip

I got a little bit more time to spare. So here I am typing happily on my keyboard giving my dear friends an update.

Okay, my long overdue post on my trip to Taiwan in February 2008! That’s like 5 months ago. I’ve forgotten some of the details so pardon me for a short post on the trip. At least I am trying to blog about it.

We did not go to any tour agency so everything had to be plan by us. From booking of air tickets, booking of hotel and the places we are going. Most of it is actually planned by my dear darling. Thank you for making the trip to beautiful and wonderful for me. At first, I thought we would be taking some budget airline and staying in 2 or 3 star hotel. But darling give me a surprise before the trip. He actually wanted to give me a surprise when we are taking the flight but he was afraid I’m unhappy that we are taking budget airline. Thus, he told me beforehand to make me happy.

Indeed, I was very happy and glad that he is willing to spend money on me and not anyone else. Well, at least for now.

So we actually took Singapore Airline to Taiwan and we stayed in a 4 or 5-star hotel (Howard Plaza). The weather is freaking cold that you will not experience in Singapore. It is even colder than when I was in Hong Kong. I can survive with a normal jacket when I was in Hong Kong last year. But I was there when the weather is about turn warm. However, this time in Taiwan, we met with their raining season. It was alright on the first day but on the second day I think, it started drizzling almost the whole day and of coz, we walked in the rain. Romantic isn’t it? But there is a price to pay for it because we started falling sick when we were back in Singapore.

I bought 3 pairs of shoes inclusive of boots which costs me freaking S$150. This is terribly expensive and I really wonder why I can pay for such expensive boots. Now I can only look forward to wear it again next year when I’m going back to Taiwan in February again. But still, there’s a pair of shoes that costs only S$5. Cheap isn’t it?

I also bought many tops at the wholesale market and it so freaking cheap. A bag at S$10 tops at different prices but still cheap. It’s the first time I shopped till I can’t stop and poor darling was hungry and I still continue shopping. The wholesale market was big and I was afraid I won’t pass by again. Thus, I entered almost each and every shop and darling can’t stand me because each shop I been to, I will get at least 1 item from it.

Looking back, I think I regret not getting so many things. A bag that is so nice though it cost S$70 which is quite expensive. But I can get a pair of boots which is useless in Singapore for hundred over dollars but can’t get a bag for less than hundred. Kind of angry with myself. But no worries, I’m going back next year. So I shall buy everything I can. No LV bag for period. But I need more clothes, bags and shoes!

The food is so damn nice. I have stopped buying the Taiwan snacks - chicken cutlets & mee sua in Singapore because it really cannot be compared to the authentic Taiwan snacks. I even ate ‘ma la ya xue chou dou fu’ - Hot & Spicy Duck Blood and Smelly Tofu. Freaking nice. Though it sounds yucky but it taste heaven. Just like durian smells yucky and taste so nice. I actually gained 3 kgs after I came back. Its only 4 days and I gained 3 kgs. Basically, we had breakfast in the hotel at about 9am. We went out shopping right after that and started snacking. 12pm for lunch, after that snack because some of the food not found in Singapore, 6pm took our dinner and 9pm, went for mee sua. After that, pack mee sua back. Plus some more snacks. After I’m back to hotel, I will watch their TV programs and bathe at about 11pm. After bathing while waiting for hair to dry, I snack again. Finishing the food because I don’t want to waste food. After that, I fall right into bed and slept till next morning.

Can you imagine the lifestyle of a pig? That’s what I am when I was there. Relaxing!

We also had desserts. COLD desserts in cold weather. We must be mad. But it is very common there. Many people still taking cold desserts as well so we don’t feel awkward.

Anyway, so looking forward to my trip there again next year. I shall gain 10 kg when I’m back. Haha…
