Tremor in Singapore

When I was lunching with my colleagues, they were talking about Earthquake because they can feel the tremor and 1 of them said that her father's company evacuated the people in the building. I didn't really care a bit even though I felt giddy because I thought I was sick so its natural to feel giddy.

After lunch, I came back to check the email of the office and saw an email like this:

An earthquake was detected at 11:49am, 6 Mar 2007 in SOUTHERN SUMATRA, approximately 430km from Singapore. The magnitude of the earthquake is 6.6 on the Richter scale. The epicentre is located at latitude 0.4 South and longitude 100.4 East.

I was like, OMG! How come no one is evacuated at that time?

Another email I just received was:

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to update you that as a result of the Sumatran Earth Quake which occurred at about 11.49 am, our building encountered short tremors. Immediately we activated out Building Management team to carry out a physical check for cracks within our building and there was no crack or any obvious damages reported. We had also informed all our staff and tenant Ministries about this incident at about 12.17pm.
Approximately at about 1.49 pm, it was reported that there were short tremors again at our building but this time round, it was a shorter and weaker one. We had checked BCA that those buildings within Singapore are safe structurally in general unless serious or obvious cracks are detected. We had also requested BCA to send a team to inspect our building.
MOF-S&F unit will continue to monitor the situation with NEA and BCA and keep all staff and our tenants informed if there is a need to activate any evacuation plan.

I was so prepared to evacuate right now because the tremor is not felt once. But twice and there are people checking the structure of the building right now. They must check properly or else tomorrow I come collapse then I will die!

4 people died in this sumatran earth quake in sumatra, of coz. Many buildings collapse. I suddenly feel like crying for these people because of this natural disaster. Its so heart wrenching to know that people are dying because of natural disasters. Sometimes I wonder, why must God or whatever gives us a life and take it away? Its so sad la. Enough of this, I must not get emotionally unstable.
